FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

  • Washington DC

On Tuesday, May 12, the American Polish Advisory Council will host a Polish American reception and networking event with members of the Congressional and Senate Caucus on Poland at the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill.

Representatives of Polish American organizations as well as community leaders from across the country will attend the reception.

“This event is aligned with APAC’s core mission which is to facilitate access to legislators and decision makers for our community so that our interest can be adequately represented and our issues prominently addressed,” said Amb. Lt. Gen. Edward Rowny, President of the American Polish Advisory Council.

“I am confident that this unprecedented event will become an annual tradition which will foster dialogue between the Polish American community and our elected officials in Washington. This dialogue will not only enable us to have a louder voice on Capitol Hill but also support initiatives undertaken by members of the Congressional and the Senate Caucus on Poland that are on the forefront of the Polish American agenda,” said Agnes Marczak, treasurer of the American Polish Advisory Council and chair of its political committee.

During the reception, the American Polish Advisory Council will present awards to Senator Barbara Mikulski (MD) and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH) in recognition of their efforts and advocacy on behalf of the Polish American community and Poland.

Earlier this year members of the Congressional Caucus on Poland including Representatives Chris Smith (NJ), Dan Lipinski (IL), Marcy Kaptur (OH), and Tim Murphy (PA) issued a press release outlining their agenda for the 114th Congress. It included Poland's perspective on Russian aggression in the region and the U.S. role in responding to this security situation; energy development and security issues of mutual interest to Poland and the U.S.; exploration of expanded trade and economic ties between Poland and the U.S.; science, technology, and innovation collaboration between the two countries; and the expansion of the Visa Waiver Program to include Poland.

The American Polish Advisory Council is a Washington, DC based bipartisan, nonprofit organization whose mission is to engage Polish Americans politically and represent Polish American political interests in Washington and beyond.
